Whether you’re photographing a dreamy sunset, an animal on the move, or an emotional moment, getting the perfect shot at the right time can be quite challenging. That is why we caught up with long-time Unsplash contributor, Rob Potter, who is no stranger to the craft of capturing the perfect moment.

Who are you & where are you based?
I’m Rob & I’m primarily based in Bristol, UK. It’s honestly (nearly) the most wonderful city on the planet, in fact, it would be if it wasn’t for the fact that it was too expensive to live in. There’s also a really great photography community & its creative culture generally nurtures most art forms.

Why did you first get started in photography?
I was a filmmaker & a colour grader, so naturally, I spent a lot of time composing & colouring stills. The problem with film-making is that I don’t find it allows for much solo work. With hybrid cameras now I started spending more time photographing & less time filming. To be completely honest, I’ve rarely looked back.
