{"id":6689,"date":"2017-03-14T20:07:15","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T20:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doncopolitan.wordpress.com\/?p=6689"},"modified":"2023-04-05T06:08:29","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T06:08:29","slug":"get-involved-teamdonco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developmentunbloq.co.uk\/?p=6689","title":{"rendered":"Get involved #TeamDonco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve been keeping up with our Facebook live videos you&#8217;ll know that at the start of 2017 we had some big news.<\/p>\n<p>Doncopolitan is working in partnership with Right Up Our Street to cultivate a year round Town Centre ecology of arts and cultural events, working closely with and for our diverse communities.<\/p>\n<p><b>So what is Right Up Our Street?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Right Up Our Street is a Doncaster project that brings the local community and the arts together. Part of the national project \u2018Creative People &amp; Places\u2019 Doncaster brought together consortium partners <\/span><b>darts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> (Doncaster Community Arts), <\/span><b>Cast<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, <\/span><b>Doncaster Culture &amp; Leisure Trust <\/b><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">(DCLT) and <\/span><b>Doncaster Voluntary Arts Network<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> (DVAN) to make ambitious creative work happen in community across Doncaster since 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s #TeamDonco<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Working with Doncopolitan over 2017 and some of 2018 the team will be supported to develop creative ideas and events in the Town Centre whilst also steering ideas and projects for the DnweekeND, which will talk place on the 8<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">&#8211; 10th of September in 2017. Andrew Loretto Creative Producer hopes to see the DNweekeND become a legacy event for the town and take place every year as part of the St Leger Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5324\" src=\"https:\/\/doncopolitan.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/09\/1a346faf7cd06832370a683790534f729cc8cbdc.jpg\" alt=\"1a346faf7cd06832370a683790534f729cc8cbdc\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">DNweekeND will commission local, regional and national artists to develop ambitious creative work to showcase at the event. If you\u2019re a interested in developing a project for the DNweekeND or would like to get a creative idea off the ground in the town centre get and we&#8217;ll support you ideas doncopolitan@gmail.com<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What we talked about in our last #TeamDonco Meeting? <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Doncaster is finally getting an arts calendar and we love supporting these types of event as they bring lots of cashola into our local economy. Tramlines in Sheffield is a brilliant example it brings \u00a33million to the City. \u00a0We want more brilliant events in our town centre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Who Came along?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Emma Gullon- Intern and Theatre Writer for The Doncopolitan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. Here she is looking sharp at International Women&#8217;s Day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6705\" src=\"https:\/\/doncopolitan.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/03\/17201409_1383983281651892_227325368300735296_n.jpg\" alt=\"17201409_1383983281651892_227325368300735296_n.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"629\" \/>Emma is a Theatre graduate from York St John University, originally from Doncaster. She enjoys being on stage and off and has taken part in \u00a0various local theatre productions. Emma is the new intern for The Doncapolitan and written advertisements, promos and reviews for theatre productions in Doncaster. Her focus is the second space at CAST theatre and is even writing an article for the magazine to promote it. Emma also has her own blog Curious Theatre Reviews where she also showcases her work for The Doncopolitan as well as looking at theatre around Yorkshire in general.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Craig Hallam &#8211; Steampunk wordsmith.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Craig is a well-respected local author on the national Steampunk scene. \u00a0He helped coordinate the first two Steampunk festivals that took place in Doncaster a few years back. We know from talking to a few different residents and also the My Doncaster Team at DMBC that everyone think as Doncaster\u2019s should be the host of an annual Steampunk festival. Especially as Donny is the home of the famous steam engine the Flying Scotsman. \u00a0Here&#8217;s Craig&#8217;s article from the latest Doncopolitan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6742\" src=\"https:\/\/doncopolitan.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/03\/17309102_1513200862023984_3727399642723442427_n1.jpg\" alt=\"17309102_1513200862023984_3727399642723442427_n.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Nick Boruk -designer and street art legend.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Nick is a graphic designer and artist behind Blok Heds. Nick spoke about the idea of creating a town centre shop for local artist maybe at Frenchgate Centre. Nick expressed \u00a0how difficult it is for local artists to develop their artwork in Doncaster post degree level and that a pop-up shop project at Frenchgate Centre or Waterdale could help students think about making their work more commercial. We\u2019ll help to link Nick up with Frenchgate Centre, Waterdale and The Markets team to see if this is something that could be developed. \u00a0Nick is also keen to see more street art in Doncaster and we\u2019re currently talking to DMBC about commissioning street art for the hoardings outside the Corn Exchange, if you\u2019re a street artist\/muralist get in touch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6738\" src=\"https:\/\/doncopolitan.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/03\/2350218555.jpg\" alt=\"_2350218555.jpg\" width=\"3852\" height=\"2592\" \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Tammy &#8211; Our fav heritage geek.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Tammy\u2019s or favourite Science Teacher at (Rigi School, that\u2019s Ridgewood for those not family with the local lingo). Tammy is also a history Junkie too. Josie loves to write and you can read her article Bricks By Brick in the latest Doncopolitan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Shane Peagram <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">You might have seen Shane\u2019s photography featured on numerous occasions in Doncopolitan. Our fav has to been Adam Croft the Gold Smiths from Woodlands. Shane working with us on developing a bi- monthly photography workshop, where people will get the chance to learn photography hacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6734\" src=\"https:\/\/doncopolitan.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/03\/17190734_10154157527231852_2356194418227495499_n.jpg\" alt=\"17190734_10154157527231852_2356194418227495499_n.jpg\" width=\"958\" height=\"959\" \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>John Fuller &#8211; The Video Guy<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Over the last 5 years John has documented many of Doncaster\u2019s arts and culture events. He is a life long friend of Doncopolitan and helps to run our YouTube Channel whilst documenting local events.
